A 41-year-old Indian Bank cashier died in a road accident while returning home from work in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place near the Mathaiyapur turn under the Husainganj police station area when an unidentified vehicle collided with his motorcycle. The injured bank employee was taken to a nursing home in Kanpur for treatment, where he died late at night. According to doctors, he suffered serious injuries to his chest and head.
The deceased was identified as Avinash Kumar Umrao (41), a resident of Nathukheda village under the Bindki Kotwali police station area. He was working as a cashier at the Chhivalha branch of Indian Bank. On Tuesday evening, after completing his duty, he was returning home on his motorcycle when the accident occurred near the Mathaiyapur turn.
Indian Bank Branch Manager Akash Srivastava said that Avinash had left the branch after 5 PM. Information about the accident reached the bank later that evening. After the collision, he was taken by ambulance to the Community Health Centre (CHC), from where doctors referred him to a medical college. However, considering his critical condition, his family members took him to a nursing home in Kanpur for better treatment. He died during treatment late at night.

Husainganj Station House Officer (SHO) Tarkeshwar Rai said that the police are searching for the vehicle involved in the accident. Further action will be taken after identifying the vehicle and its driver.
Avinash had retired from the Indian Navy in 2020. Later, he appeared for the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination in 2022 and was selected as a Sub-Inspector. He was posted in Ayodhya district, where he served for around three years.
However, his police duties kept him away from his family. He subsequently started preparing for banking recruitment examinations and appeared for a bank recruitment test while serving as a Sub-Inspector. After getting selected for the clerk position at Indian Bank, he decided to leave the police department and return to his home district. He resigned from his position as Sub-Inspector on June 28 and joined the bank around five months ago. Since then, he had been travelling nearly 60 kilometres every day between his home and the bank branch.
Avinash had been living with his family in a newly developed residential colony in Bindki town for quite some time. His father, Ram Narayan Verma, is a retired teacher, while his mother, Premvati, is a retired Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM).
He married Renu in 2018. His wife works as an assistant teacher in the Malwan block. The couple has two children, a six-year-old daughter named Arohi and a five-year-old son named Akshansh. His sudden death has left the family in deep shock.
