The 24th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was released on Friday, October 30, 2026. According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), around 9.34 crore farmers across India will receive ₹2,000 each, with a total of ₹18,690 crore being transferred under the scheme.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 every year in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. The installments are generally released during three periods: April to July, August to November, and December to March.
The release of the 24th installment of PM-KISAN is expected to lead to a rush at bank branches as farmers visit to withdraw the money credited to their accounts. With around 9.34 crore farmers set to receive ₹2,000 each, banks may face additional pressure, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

However, banks must consider how such a large number of beneficiaries can be served at branches without affecting regular banking operations. It would be practically difficult for bank branches to handle a sudden rush of farmers while continuing to serve other customers, including senior citizens and pensioners.
Banks should make appropriate arrangements to manage the expected rush, ensure adequate staff availability, and guide farmers towards alternative withdrawal channels such as ATMs, micro-ATMs, and banking correspondents wherever available. Clear communication about the credit of funds and withdrawal options could also help prevent unnecessary visits to branches.
The responsibility should not fall entirely on branch employees, who already handle multiple banking services and customer queries. Proper planning and support from the banking system are essential to ensure that farmers can access their money without inconvenience, while regular customers and bank employees are not put under unnecessary pressure.
What to Do If the PM Kisan Installment Has Not Arrived?
Farmers who have not received their installment or are facing problems with their registration can raise a query through the official PM-KISAN website.
To do this, visit the website and open the Farmer Corner help desk. Enter your Aadhaar number, bank account number, or registered mobile number, and click on “Get Details” to access the query form.
The form provides options related to bank accounts, payments, Aadhaar details, and other issues. Select the option relevant to your problem, enter the required details, and submit the form.
Eligible farmers can also register for the scheme through Common Service Centres (CSCs). In addition, local patwaris, revenue officials, and nodal officers appointed by state governments assist farmers with registration.
Who Is Eligible for the PM-KISAN Scheme?
When the PM-KISAN scheme was launched in February 2019, its benefits were initially limited to small and marginal farmer families owning cultivable land of up to two hectares. In June 2019, the government expanded the scheme to cover all eligible landholding farmer families, subject to the prescribed exclusion criteria.
However, certain categories of people are not eligible for the scheme. These include institutional landholders and farmer families in which one or more members hold or have held constitutional posts.
Serving and retired officers and employees of central and state government ministries, departments, and offices, as well as public sector undertakings and government autonomous bodies, are generally excluded, subject to the scheme’s rules and specified exceptions.
Other excluded categories include professionals such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers who are registered with professional bodies and actively practise their professions. Retired pensioners receiving a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more are also excluded, subject to the applicable exceptions. Individuals who paid income tax in the previous assessment year are not eligible either.
