Major ‘A’ cities: Thane, Navi Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune including Pimpri & Chinchwad (PCMC).

‘B’ class cities shall include cities under category III for the purpose of payment of CCA.
‘C’ class cities shall include cities not falling under any of the above referred categories.
On the other hand, PO in Banks get approximately Rs.30,000 as lease amount in Mumbai. This amount is far less than the amount provided to LIC AAO.
Rental prices in India have increased sharply over the past few years, particularly in major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Gurugram. However, the increase varies considerably by locality and property type.According to a report published by Business Standard in May 2026, average rents across India’s rental housing market increased by around 80% between 2021 and 2025.
Mumbai and Hyderabad recorded increases of more than 90% over the same period, while Bengaluru, Chennai and Gurugram saw rents approximately double on average.
Bankers are requesting the bank management to increase the lease rental ceiling in line with the rising rental prices across the country. The current lease limits are insufficient to rent decent flats in many cities, forcing bank employees to pay a significant amount of rent from their own pockets. Therefore, bankers are demanding a revision in the lease rental limits to ensure that they can find suitable accommodation without facing an additional financial burden.
