Kendrapara: A 24-year-old private bank employee was found hanging in her rented accommodation in Mangalpur village, Jajpur district, on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Madhusmita Saha from Bishnupur village in Keonjhar district, was reportedly living alone in the rented house.
According to local sources, neighbors and the houseowner became suspicious when Madhusmita did not respond to repeated knocks on her door. Growing concerned, they forcibly entered the room and discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan. She was immediately rushed to the Mangalpur Community Health Centre, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival on Friday.
Madhusmita’s family, however, suspects foul play. Her mother, Umamani Saha, has filed an FIR alleging that her daughter was murdered and that the crime scene was staged to make it appear as a suicide. “We do not believe that she took her own life. Something happened to her, and the culprits tried to cover it up,” said the grieving mother.
Jagadish Kar, the Inspector-in-Charge of Mangalpur police station, informed reporters that no suicide note was found at the scene. “The body has been sent to the district headquarters hospital in Jajpur for post-mortem. The exact cause of death will be determined once we receive the autopsy report,” he stated.
