
In Sheikhpura on Monday, there was a gold heist at Aashirwad Gold Loan Bank, where six armed robbers, wearing masks, forcibly entered the bank during daylight. They held bank employees at gunpoint, engaged in extensive looting, and physically assaulted the staff.
The robbers plundered gold jewelry stored in customer lockers within the bank, amounting to approximately five kilograms with an estimated value of 200 million rupees. At the time of the incident, three staff members were present, including two men and one woman.
The criminals also resorted to vandalism during the heist before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, SDPO Arvind Kumar Sinha arrived at the location for investigation, interviewing bank employees. According to SDPO, the identification of the perpetrators is underway using CCTV footage from the bank.
A comprehensive inquiry is being conducted on all aspects of the incident. According to bank staff, the criminals posed as customers interested in taking a gold loan. They initiated discussions with bank employees to secure a loan, and then, taking advantage of their weapons, forcefully restrained all bank staff, leading to the successful execution of the heist.
All perpetrators had masks covering their faces. Vikas Kumar reported that the robbers also engaged in vandalism within the bank premises. Meanwhile, the bank’s manager, Krishna Murari, was on leave during the incident. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police, led by Barbiga Police Station Chief Sunil Dutt, promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the matter.
The police are conducting a thorough examination of the case. Bank staff member Smriti Kumari mentioned that the criminals damaged the bank’s CCTV camera during the robbery. However, a recording of the loot was available in the main office. The robbers fled with two crore worth of gold and two lakh in cash. One of the criminals repeatedly threatened to open fire, leaving us helpless with no option but to stand by.
