Agra police arrested a 25-year-old woman for smuggling a mobile phone into a bank recruitment exam centre and using it to cheat during the test. The accused, identified as Manisha Sharma, allegedly forwarded the exam questions via WhatsApp to a friend, who solved them and sent back the answers. The incident occurred on Sunday during an online examination for the position of Assistant Manager Grade A, conducted by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) at Ion Digital Zone in Agra.

How the Cheating Was Uncovered

According to a complaint filed by the exam venue commanding officer (VCO), Manish Kashyap, Manisha, a resident of Rambagh, managed to smuggle a smartphone into the exam hall by hiding it in her undergarments. She photographed the questions displayed on her computer screen twice and sent them to her friend, Mansi Pandey, via WhatsApp. Mansi then solved the questions and sent back the answers.

The cheating came to light when invigilator Nisha Singh caught Manisha using her phone to check the answers. The exam authorities were immediately informed, and during questioning, Manisha admitted to concealing the mobile phone in her innerwear.

Sikandra police station house officer Neeraj Kumar Sharma stated, “An FIR has been registered against both the candidate who leaked the paper and the person who provided the answers. The case has been filed under sections of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1998. The matter is being investigated.”

Following her arrest, Manisha was presented in court and subsequently sent to jail. The police are also investigating the role of her accomplice, Mansi Pandey, in the cheating operation. This incident highlights the growing misuse of technology in competitive exams and raises concerns about the need for stricter monitoring and preventive measures.
