IndusInd Bank has sent a list of three experienced bankers to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to choose the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank. This information was reported by news agency Reuters, quoting people who are familiar with the matter.

The three names sent to the RBI are:

  1. Rajiv Anand – He is currently the Deputy Managing Director at Axis Bank and has worked in many senior positions at both Indian and international financial institutions.
  2. Rahul Shukla – He was the Group Head at HDFC Bank and is now on a break (sabbatical). He has more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry.
  3. Anup Saha – He is the Managing Director at Bajaj Finance and has worked in the financial sector for over 25 years.

This step has been taken after the sudden resignations of IndusInd Bank’s CEO Sumant Kathpalia and Deputy CEO Arun Khurana in April. Their resignations came after the bank faced a major financial problem—a loss of around $230 million due to incorrect handling of internal derivative trades over several years.

The RBI had asked IndusInd Bank to submit a list of possible candidates for the CEO position by June 30. One source told that the bank’s board has recommended that the new CEO should be appointed for a three-year term.

Among the three candidates, the board has given first preference to Rajiv Anand because of his strong background and good reputation in the banking industry.

This appointment is an important step for IndusInd Bank as it moves forward after a major setback in leadership and financial reporting.
