What IBA said in Meeting on 23 January regarding Bank Strike

A meeting was held on 23.01.2026 between UFBU, DFS, IBA, CLC and Bank Management for the implementation of 5-Day Banking. The Government seems not to be in favour of 5-Day Banking, so the strike will continue on 27 January 2026. The representative from IBA submitted his pointwise comments orally, which are recorded as follows:

| 5-day banking week | IBA submitted that the matter is under consideration with the Government of India. |
| Regulated Working Hours | IBA submitted that working hours are already regulated and that no such cases of working beyond the regulated hours have been brought before the IBA. |
| Expedite release of the PLI to the workforce | IBA submitted that the issue is under consideration of CLC(C), New Delhi. IBA further added that banks are obliged to follow CLC order. |
| Up-dation of Pension | The matter is sub-judice before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. |
| Payment of ex-gratia to the pensioners in private sector banks | In the recently concluded wage settlement, the payment of ex-gratia was agreed for the PSBs including SBI. However, other member banks, if they decide so, may consider at their end. |
