Central Pay Commission vs Bipartite Settlement – In recent years, Bankers have leaned towards the Central Pay Commission (CPC) because their salaries are comparatively lower than those of their counterparts in central government jobs, despite having similar responsibilities, work pressure and long working hours. Under the Bipartite Settlement (BPS), salary revisions depend on negotiations between bank unions and the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), and the gap between bank employees and other government employees remains a major concern for many bankers. They believe that bringing bank employees under the CPC could ensure better salary revisions, greater pay parity, timely increments and improved benefits. For many bankers, the demand for CPC is not just about higher salaries; it is also about equal pay, recognition and fair treatment compared with their counterparts.
