On Thursday evening, just three minutes before closing time, the Axis Bank branch in Dobh village, situated on Bhiwani Road in Rohtak, experienced a shocking robbery. Four masked and armed youths stormed into the bank at 4:57 PM, holding the staff at gunpoint. Three of the robbers were armed with pistols while the fourth carried a bag. Upon entering, they locked bank manager Umesh, cashier Akshay, fourth class employee Manjeet, and another staff member in the bathroom. The robbers then forced Umesh to open the cash room. When the lock didn’t open with Umesh’s key alone, they brought out Akshay to assist. Once the locker was unlocked, the robbers took Rs 6.50 lakh, confiscated the staff’s mobile phones, and fled the scene within three minutes. Watch video below 👇

The bank’s swift call for help brought DSP Rajneesh Kumar, CIA II in-charge Azad Nain, and Inspector Mahesh from Bahu Akbarpur police station to the site, along with a dog squad to trace the robbers. CCTV footage revealed the robbers arriving on bikes and scooties. Police suspicion has led to the detention of the bank’s security guard and a fourth class employee for questioning.

Bank manager Umesh, who had only been at the Dobh branch for four months, recounted the incident in his police complaint. At 4:35 PM, he had secured all cash in the locker and left the key in his drawer. With the shutter halfway down, Umesh and Akshay continued working while Manjeet sat near the gate. The robbers’ sudden entry and threats left them no time to react. After securing the staff in the bathroom, the robbers managed to open the cash locker with both Umesh’s and Akshay’s keys. They then left with the cash, totaling Rs 6.50 lakh.

The Bahu Akbarpur police station has filed a case of robbery against the four unknown assailants. Despite the dog squad’s efforts to track the robbers, the large crowd at the scene hindered their progress. The incident has raised serious concerns about bank security, prompting a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.
