A 38-year-old bank manager died in a road accident in Fatehpur on Wednesday afternoon after his car collided with a vehicle ahead of it on the Lucknow bypass overbridge. The accident took place on the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway under the jurisdiction of Sadar Kotwali police station. The bank manager was reportedly driving to Kaushambi to report for duty when he met with accident.
The deceased was identified as Shailendra Kumar Verma, a resident of HIG Colony in Tatya Tope Nagar, under the Barra police station area of Kanpur Nagar. He was working as a manager at a UCO Bank branch in Kaushambi district.
The collision caused severe damage to the front portion of the car, leaving Shailendra Kumar Verma trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue personnel had to cut through the front section of the damaged car to pull him out. He was subsequently taken to the district hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Traffic Circle Officer Brijmohan Rai said the front portion of the car was badly damaged in the accident.
