Thieves Uprooted and Stole SBI Bank ATM in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur, Bihar: Unidentified criminals uprooted and stole an entire SBI ATM on Rewa Road (NH-722) near Madwan under Karja police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday night. The gang looted cash and loaded the ATM machine into a white SUV and fled. The incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

According to police, the thieves reached the location around midnight and removed the machine completely. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when locals found the ATM missing and informed the police. Police reached the spot and began an investigation.

“Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits. The exact amount of cash inside the ATM is yet to be confirmed. Verification is being done with bank officials,” said Karja SHO Ramkrishna Paramhans.

The ATM was cut open using a gas cutter and later taken away in an SUV. A special investigation team (SIT) led by rural SP Rajesh Singh Prabhakar has been formed. Bank officials were also called to verify the stolen cash. It is suspected a large sum has been stolen.

This incident has raised serious questions about the safety and security of ATMs in Bihar. The robbery was carried out fearlessly. The robbers even took the entire ATM with them in a Scorpio vehicle. This shows that the criminals had no fear of the police or the law. The government needs to improve security, and banks must also strengthen the safety arrangements at their ATM premises.
