Thief Breaks into PNB Branch in Hoshiarpur, Fails to Reach Cash Locker
Hoshiarpur, Punjab: A burglary attempt took place at the Punjab National Bank branch in Oonchi Bassi, Dasuya, in Hoshiarpur district. The accused entered the bank by cutting through a window grille but failed to reach the cash locker. He fled with only a tablet from the bank.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when local residents out for a morning walk noticed that the grille of a bank window had been damaged. They immediately informed the village head and the police.
After receiving the information, police officials reached the spot and called the bank manager. Senior Manager Nikhil Bhagat said that CCTV footage confirmed that a thief had broken into the bank.

According to the CCTV footage, the accused entered the bank premises at around 11:41 pm on Monday. Using a small saw, he cut through the window grille and managed to enter the bank within about 15 minutes.
Once inside, the thief spent more than an hour searching through the bank. However, he was unable to access the bank’s main cash locker. Before leaving, he stole a tablet from the branch.
Bank officials said that, so far, the investigation has confirmed the theft of only one tablet. The bank’s main safe locker remained completely secure, and no cash was reported missing.
Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Manjot, who reached the scene, said that a detailed investigation is underway. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the accused. He said efforts are being made to trace and arrest the thief as soon as possible.
