Supreme Court Lawyer Protests Outside ICICI Bank in Kanpur Over Alleged Fraud
A Supreme Court lawyer, Ajay Tandon, staged a protest outside the ICICI Bank branch in JS Tower on Mall Road, Kanpur, on Monday morning, accusing the bank of fraud. Tandon, along with some colleagues, gathered outside the bank gate and began a hunger strike. He also brought a public address system to raise awareness about what he claimed was a fraudulent act by the bank.
Tandon, who is also the National President of the Honest Indian Party and CEO of ATCAI Solution Private Limited, explained that he had taken loans from ICICI Bank for properties purchased in Delhi NCR Noida. He stated that these loans were meant for establishing an Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center aimed at making the country corruption-free. He claimed that the center would use AI to provide justice and decisions across various legal institutions, including police stations and courts.
Despite paying all his EMIs on time, Tandon alleged that ICICI Bank had wrongly shown a liability of Rs 57.53 lakh against him, even though he had no overdue amount. He insisted that, based on his transactions, he owed the bank nothing.
As Tandon continued his protest, the bank management alerted the police. Officers arrived at the scene, spoke with the lawyer, and assured him that action would be taken after investigating the matter. Tandon also mentioned that he had filed a complaint against the bank, but the police had not yet registered an FIR.
The police confirmed that further investigation would be conducted based on the complaint received.
