Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended Shri Ravi Ranjan for the position of MD in SBI.
FSIB interfaced with 9 candidates on September 11, 2025 for the position of Managing Director (MD) in State Bank of India (SBI). Keeping in view their performance in the interface, their overall experience and the extant parameters, the Bureau recommends Shri Ravi Ranjan for the position of MD in SBI.
About Shri Ravi Ranjan
He is currently working as DMD (CAG)CC MUMBAI. He has over 33 years of banking experience, having started his career as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1991. He has held various positions both in India and overseas, across multiple functions. He has overseen Corporate Accounts Group (CAG) of SBI as Deputy Managing Director. He has also overseen SBI, Chennai Circle as Chief General Manager which includes Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
He was the President & Chief Operating Officer of SBICAP Securities Ltd (SSL), a subsidiary of SBI during 2022-2023. He has headed NW- II of Bangalore Circle as General Manager. He has also worked as DGM and Special Secretary to Chairman, State Bank, Corporate Centre. He has also worked as Vice President & Head – Syndications at Hong Kong.
During the period 1991 to 2010, he held assignments spanning various facets of Banking.viz. Head of Account Maintenance Team (AMT) for Shipping and Aviation Sectors, Research officer at State Bank Academy, Branch Manager of 5 different branches of State Bank of India in different parts of the country and also, overseas assignment at California.
He has Master’s degree in Business Administration from MDI, Gurugram, M.Sc in Botany from Patna University.
