  1. If she knows the Kannada language, she should speak in kannada. If she didn’t know how to speak Kannada then she is not wrong.. how can we learn language in one or two years.. we are not AI

  2. She should have sought sometime to enable her to speak in Kannada instead of refusing straightaway

  3. Language shouldn’t be imposed. Every officer has the ability to communicate in languages understood by the customer over time. Politics shouldn’t come into play

  4. Being in the service industry, this is one the ways of serving customers. At least minimum language to be learnt for the communication purpose. The other issue is of refusing to learn is attitudinal issue, then unfit to be in the service industry.

  5. What happens when an officer is transferred to another state after every 3 years? Should he or she learn the local language every time?
This will create unprecedented problems going ahead if it goes on

  6. She did not know Kannada. Moreover, this hooliganism, threat to their staffs should have been dealt with iron hand and demotivate vicious demand like local job, no transfer etc.
Moreover all these DRAMA happen at the instigation of local union leader during transfer posting only to retain their staffs locally. POOR MANAGEMENT VICTIM VICTIM EVERY TIME.

  7. If every employee should know the regional language wherever they are posted, I think Chairman of SBI should know 22 Regional Languages as every state CM will speak in their Regional Languages and they are the customer of SBI

  8. Yes, agreed. Language issues must be resolved by Government and ministry of Finance and concerned Management for non implementations of transferand posting. All are responsible 👍

  9. As most of us agree that in Service Sector or even as a Citizen of this Nation with such a great diversity, We must respect the locals..

At the same time, We Bankers seek some extra cooperation from the Local people also.. We get transferred every 3-4 years to different Linguistic regions it becomes Unbearable something to contain us to the Assertive demand for learning and speaking Local language..
Language should be a connecting tool instead of causing any disconnect..

  10. If any person speaks in Hindi or English instead of the local language for various reasons. It should be accepted. As Hindi is national language and English is international language. Speaking in local language should not be insisted from the staff having transferable job. Such staff may be transferred to multiple states during his job tenure. How can you expect him/ her to know the local language of all such states. This is a unique situation in a country like ours.

  11. Language is an integral part of communication. You must have to learn as well as respect every language.
I thinks disrespect any language with such an arrogance is not at all accepted.
I am also living Bengaluru every customer respects us and tries to talk in hindi because they just want ki atleast we should try.

  12. Nothing wrong with her, she is speaking in Hindi, which is our national language. Language is used only for exchange of thoughts and it should be confined to that extent only. Bank staff will be posted through out length and breadth of the country, wherever that bank branch exists and it is not possible to learn all the languages in our country by the Bank staff. For the kannada people, who are posted in other states, if they are asked to talk in other languages, then they will know the pain.

  13. Generally in rural and semi urban areas many customers speak in local languages in banks. It is expected from bank staff to converse in local language. At the same time it is not so easy to learn local language in a short period. The customer should also try to understand the genuine problem of staff members who are from other linguistic areas and should not insist for use of local language. The manager concerned should have expressed her difficulties politely instead of showing rudeness.

  14. An individual from Bihar and UP carrying out his own business in Bangalore or in any remote area of Karnataka will never dare to commit this mistake for the sake of profit. The act of this lady is a serious mistake if she owns this bank. This act is called arrogance if she is a labour in this organisation. This act is called act of immaturity if she thinks herself loyal employee of this bank.

  15. Why such transfer policy when not in favour of customer, bank and employees.

This is only a torture to employees. Government should make management answerable.

  16. No one can force an employee to speak in a local language.Every one is not capable to speak all language of Indian State. One must talk in National Language Hindi or a common language English.

  17. As it is seen in the video that she has not refused to speak in Hindi or English and as per constitution the union has set Hindi language as official language of India, and banking sectors are given a target to perform the duties in official language itself. Moreover the management of SBI has transferred her or deputed her in a region where she doesn’t know the language of then it is a pure mistake of the management not the employee.

  18. All who are saying she should atleast try speaking should know that you stay in a diverse country with n number of language’s with widely spoken language as hindi and english and then any regional language. The customer staying wherever they are atleast should know how and where you are standing and whom you are talking to. The staff ain’t illiterate standing there facing all tom dick and harry customer’s every damn minute. Customers too need to have basic civics sense.

  19. She was absolutely correct. How many languages one should learn when one is supposed to get transferred every 3 years to a new place..

Is an IAS asked to learn the language of area he/ she’s transferred to… no
    Why then others need to.
Only National language (Hindi) is mandatory to know and speak in, not others

  20. Being in a service industry and that too she has opted to join banking industry, she should have understood to respond to demands of the customer. First of all she should learn to respect the customers. Instead of refusing, she could have politely informed her constraints and expressed her willingness to learn the language of the land during the course of time…her attitude is unpordonable..not only in Karnataka wherever ‘bank’ employees are posted, they should learn to behave with etiquette…

  21. She is right. She can speak Hindi and English. She selected in the Bank in all India basis not local basis. During her service life She may be transferred 10 state. Is it possible all the 10 local state language She has to learned? Injustice.

  22. Say in India hindi is national language kannada people must learn if not go out of india. And why always all issues in SBI . GOVERNMENT SEEN mostly suside case in SBI . Mostly transver policy wrong in SBI . Highest rajniti in SBI if your management person your non then not transver out location stay in local or as policy gone then on deputation bring back. And female staff 100% rudely talk sbi management

  23. We are already overloaded working with less staff and poor banking infra. Meanwhile, this has become a political drama .

Is it possible to learn languages of all states every 3 yrs once ?

Better let management recruit only local officers. 🙁

I agree with this SBI lady officer 🙂

  24. Every body can’t learn each and every language. Hindi or English should be official language throughout India in all Govt, semi govt, PSB or PSU etc.

Agar karnataka resident employee ko Panjabi or Sindhi language bolne ko kahe to wo kaise bolega.

  25. Here the problem is her attitude. May be due to strees, she behaved like this. But, she directly said I will not speak Kanada. This is not acceptable. Instead she may say, will learn kanada soon. The problem solved. The bitter truth is, she apologized later in kanada.

  26. I am with the lady. Bankers are already having high pressure. And we are all indian . Unity in diversity is being taught to children in school but adults are showing opposite.

  27. It is disgusting that we all are comfortable in speaking foreign language i.e English, rather show us as literate but lot of resistance for National Language Hindi.
Such incidents are increasing. To stop such things,
Forcing anyone to speak in their State language should be made punishable Act. Practically, person asking for such act is not accepting himself/herself as Indian Citizen or their State as part of India.

  28. The language barrier should never be there. Hindi is the common language which everyone know but still they refuse to speak. If local language is the problem in banks then posting od employees should be according to the local languages known only…

  29. This is ridiculous. Same people flaunt their prowess on English elsewhere but they are making a fuss here. Divided hindus are still not able to see what is happening in Karnataka. Soon they will be forced to speak Urdu then they will understand.

  30. We born in hindi how to speak other languages to speak. When we have know after we have go to again another language.
Thanks to LADY SINGHAM she has tried to speak against management

  31. Sabhi union ko ishke against pen down kar dena chahiye jab unke state mein banking sava hategi tab inka dimag fategi .
    Bhade ke tatto 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

  32. Our official language is hindi..we are not bound to speak any regional language….salute to that lady who denied to their unwarranted demand…If we are bound to speak regional language, HR dept at bank should ensure before posting us other regions…

  33. Hindi is national language. It should be primary language at all places. Karnatka is not out of india. It clearly shows local people are not learning & respecting national language hindi. Our of pressure any bank will take the same action as SBI did. But question remains unanswered that why forcibly to speak kannada. If we get transferred to 20 places. Will we learn 20 languages????

  34. Language is a tool of communication. Everyone employed in Services sector must know the vernacular language to easily communicate with the local residents particularly in Semi-Urban and Rural areas. Any non-Hindi speaking persons posted in Hindi belts, if he/she speaks their known language other than Hindi, what will happen?
So, it’s better to learn the vernacular language especially persons interacting with clients/customers.

  35. Not necessary that officer knows kannada, he can speak in english or hindi which are most spoken languages

  36. You cannot expect every officer in the bank who are subject to all india transfers to learn multiple languages to work in different places. It wd be suffice if they adopt to national language HINDI and English as link language.

  37. I agree with her decision and disagree with the bank’s management decision for her punishment posting and simultaneously training of staff for regional language…It’s unfortunate that after Tamilnadu the people of Maharashtra and Karnataka are forcing and compelling banks’ staff for speaking regional languages….banks are subject to central government services..although public but many services are available now on alternate channels like ATM,CSP,Netbanking,Digital banking and the UPI…

  39. I fully support SBI Officer, and for such humiliating condition with SBI officer Management is fully responsible. Bank Union is silent means Unions are also again showing that they are not for Staff welfare they are for management welfare..

As we are aware that now indiaz literacy rate is near by 80% and local kannada people love English more than Hindi. Then they can use English to communicate their issue with Bank staff. Why they are forcing for learn Kannada.

  40. One should not be rigid for speaking local language. So many officers executive are posted out of the parent states for the sake of experience only and is not possible to spare time for learning the local language. If some one can communicate in any other language then it should not be a issue.

  41. We will speak Hindi in India if anyone opposes it is crime. We will oppose such acts if anyone does.
