SBI launches CyRIS centre to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities

Mumbai: SBI has inaugurated CyRIS, a Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence. The centre will focus on emerging digital safety and capability areas including threat intelligence, cyber defence, digital forensics, malware analysis, ethical hacking, fraud analytics, AI security and quantum-safe technologies.

Core Pillars

The centre operates around three primary strategic pillars:

• THINK: Focuses on strengthening cyber policy, operating a cyber academy for training and certifications, and driving citizen-centric digital safety awareness.
• INNOVATE: Promotes research, technology benchmarking, and the creation of next-generation solutions through live proofs of concept (PoCs).
• DEFEND: Concentrates on active cyber defense, threat intelligence, threat hunting, and operational resilience.

Key Focus Areas

CyRIS targets several emerging digital safety and technology domains, including:

• Threat intelligence and cyber defense mechanisms
• Digital forensics and malware/ransomware analysis
• Ethical hacking and red team simulations
• Fraud analytics and AI security
• Quantum-safe technologies and cryptography

Ecosystem Collaboration

The centre is designed to serve as a collaborative hub, bringing together government and regulatory bodies, financial institutions, fintech companies, academia, and technology partners to jointly combat evolving cyber risks in the digital financial ecosystem.
