SBI Field Officer Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe in Madhya Pradesh
A shocking case of corruption has come to light in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Vikas Bharti, a Field Officer at the State Bank of India (SBI), for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from a loan applicant.
According to the complaint, Kantilal Soni, a resident of Sidhi, had applied for a Mudra loan at SBI’s Manas Bhawan branch a few weeks ago. During the process, Field Officer Vikas Bharti collected photocopies of Soni’s documents and application form.
Later, Kantilal was informed that his loan of ₹5 lakh had been approved. When he visited the bank to collect the cheque, the officer allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 for releasing the amount. Kantilal refused to pay and instead filed a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Following the complaint, the CBI recorded conversations between the complainant and the accused officer to verify the demand. On Saturday evening, Vikas Bharti was called to the bank to receive the bribe. The moment he accepted ₹10,000, the CBI team caught him red-handed.
Subsequently, the agency conducted searches at his residence and the bank branch, seizing several loan-related files and documents for further investigation.
