Nainital: Amit Kumar (32), a resident of Ghaghlodi in Dwarahat, Almora district, passed away on Thursday evening after consuming a poisonous substance. He was a fourth-class employee at the Dwarahat branch of the State Bank of India (SBI).
According to reports, the incident occurred on June 5th at the bank branch itself. Kumar was rushed to the Sushila Tiwari Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to the poisoning during treatment.
Family members allege that Kumar had an altercation with bank officers that same day, which led him to take his own life. He was initially admitted to the Dwarahat Hospital before being transferred to Ranikhet Hospital due to his worsening condition.
The family is devastated by the loss. Kumar is survived by his wife Preeti, son Ayu, and daughter Satakshi. His job at SBI was their sole source of income, and they have indicated their intent to file a complaint against the bank management.
The authorities have handed over the body to the family after conducting a post-mortem examination.
