A tragic incident has been reported from State Bank of India (SBI) Ayodhya on Wednesday. An SBI branch manager ended his life by jumping into the Saryu River. The man has been identified as Ram Babu Soni (38), an officer of the State Bank of India posted in Bahraich.

According to the police, Ram Babu reached the bridge over the Saryu River on the Gorakhpur highway around 12 PM. Before taking the extreme step, he sent his last location to his wife. Witnesses said he jumped into the river without removing the bag on his back.
People present at the spot immediately informed the police. A search operation was launched, and after several hours, his body was recovered around 8 PM. Documents found in the bag helped police confirm his identity.

Left Home Saying He Was Going to Buy Medicine
Ayodhya Kotwali Station House Officer Pankaj Singh said Ram Babu did not go to his bank branch on December 31. He had left home in the morning, telling his family that he was going to buy medicine. He later moved towards the Ayodhya bypass.
At the bridge, he spoke to his mother, Shobha Devi, on the phone, and then shared his location with his wife. After that, he switched off his phone and jumped into the river.

Family Learns About Tragedy at Night
Ram Babu’s younger brother Om Babu said he had been suffering from chronic headaches and was undergoing treatment. He had spoken to family members while on the way, but later his phone was switched off. The police informed the family about his death later that night.
Ram Babu was a resident of Mankapur in Gonda district. He got married to Aishwarya Lakshmi in 2011. The couple has two daughters—13-year-old Ojasvi and 10-year-old Anvi. His wife is a homemaker. The family had celebrated Ram Babu’s birthday just 15 days ago, on December 15. His father, Vishwanath Soni, passed away in 2001.
He had been posted to Bahraich only 25 days ago, making his sudden death even more shocking for colleagues and family.
When his body was recovered, police found that he was wearing shoes and carrying a bag. The bag contained his mobile phone, medicines, and documents. However, no suicide note has been found so far.

Police Investigating Two Possible Angles
The police are investigating the case from two angles. One is that Ram Babu may have been deeply troubled by his long-standing illness, or something related to his medical treatment may have pushed him into depression. The second angle is to check if there was any family or personal dispute, though so far, no such evidence has emerged.
Police officials said that before taking the step, Ram Babu spoke only to his mother and sent his location to his wife, and there is no clear sign of any other reason behind the suicide at this stage. The investigation is ongoing.
Why Police is not investigation murder angle. Why are we assuming suicide.
