SBI branch manager in Ashok Nagar Madhya Pradesh was threatened and assaulted by a loan borrower at gunpoint. The accused Jitendra Raghuvanshi had threatened and assaulted the manager of SBI Ashoknagar SME branch at gunpoint, on Tuesday. He had also held the manager hostage. After the incident, he fled and hid his illegal pistol by burying it in a pond near Diyadhari village. The police have now recovered the weapon and arrested him.
On Tuesday, SBI branch manager Vikram Singh Rawat and deputy branch manager had gone to the house of Jitendra Raghuvanshi to recover dues of ₹90 lakh CC loan. Despite receiving several notices, the accused had not made any payment.
During the visit, the accused suddenly became angry. He took out a pistol, abused and assaulted the bank officials, snatched their phones, and broke them. He also took the deputy branch manager hostage. Police reached the spot after getting information and rescued the deputy manager, but the accused had already escaped.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajiv Mishra ordered an immediate arrest. A police team led by Inspector Ravi Pratap Singh Chauhan caught the accused overnight. During interrogation, Jitendra confessed that he had buried the pistol near a pond, which was later recovered.
A case has been registered against him under sections 221, 126(2), 351(2), 324(4), 115(2), and 296 of the IPC (Crime No. 529/25). Further investigation is underway. The operation was carried out by a police team including Inspector Ravi Pratap Singh Chauhan, Sub-Inspector Akshay Kushwaha, Bhojram Bhagat, and others.
