Recently, All India State Bank of India Staff Federation has written a letter to the Deputy Managing Director and Corporate Development Officer of SBI regarding the new roles allotted to the clerks working in State Bank of India. As per the letter, SBI has created a new post for clerks known as ‘Premier Associates’ under which clerks have to serve high net worth customers. Bank Union has also requested the authority to look into the matter and resolve the issue at the earliest.
What Bank Union said?

We would like to inform you that the bank has started a new RPR Initiative in Bengaluru and Mumbai Metro Circles named as “Wealth and Premier Banking Revamp Project”. Under this project, the Bank has selected 50 Award staff members from Bengaluru Circle who are now deputed to SBLC for training.
On completion of the training, these staff shall be deployed as “PREMIER ASSOCIATES” to service Premier Segment customers and assigned the following duties:-
- Each staff shall be allocated around 1000 High Networth CSP Platinum category customers.
- Staff should be ready to work in staggered working hours.
- Staff shall be working in a contact Centre Facility, attending to the tele-calls of the “Wealth” costumers and resolving their queries.
Sir, we do not have a designation as “Premier Associates” in the clerical cadre of the bank and we strongly believe that the introduction of the new initiatives like this has to be discussed with the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) before being implemented, which shall bring clarity in all the matters such as Designation. Duties and responsibilities associated with the jobs thus avoiding confusion in the minds of rank and file.
So, we request you to kindly instruct the concerned staff to arrange for a presentation to the Federation Executives, so that they can discuss about such matter as explained above and can remove all the confusions that may arise in the minds of our rank & file in future.
Kindly acknowledge receipt of this communication and advise us the developments in this regard. 5. Please treat the matter as EXTREMELY URGENT.
