SBI Bank Employee’s Gold Chain Snatched by Bike-Borne Criminal in Gwalior
A female bank employee became the victim of a chain snatching incident while she was out for a walk in Gwalior. The incident took place on Friday night near MP Sons Departmental Store and Hotel Sugar Palm in the area under the University police station.
Incident Happened During Evening Walk
The victim has been identified as Kripa Devi, 39, wife of late Mohan Singh. She lives in Balwant Nagar, Gaura Apartment G-2, which also falls under the University police station area of the city. Kripa Devi works in the home loan department of State Bank of India (SBI).
According to reports, she had gone out for her regular evening walk on Friday night. When she reached near MP Sons Departmental Store and Sugar Palm Hotel, a man riding a motorcycle approached from the front. The biker slowed down his vehicle and suddenly snatched the gold chain from her neck before speeding away.

After the chain was snatched, Kripa Devi immediately raised an alarm. Hearing her cries, several people from the nearby area gathered at the spot. However, by the time people reached there, the accused had already fled from the scene on his motorcycle.
In New Delhi, an average of 14 snatching cases were reported every day in 2025. According to official data from the Delhi Police, more than 2,500 cases of snatching were reported in the first six months of the year.
Police Register Case and Start Investigation
As soon as the police received information about the incident, officers reached the location and started investigating the case. A case of chain snatching has been registered, and the police have begun searching for the accused.

During the investigation, police checked several CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area. Footage of the suspect has been found at a few locations, and the police are now using this footage to identify and track the accused.
Description of the Suspect
According to Kripa Devi, the robber appeared to be around 25 to 26 years old. She described him as thin and lanky. The accused was alone on the motorcycle and was wearing a face mask and a white striped shirt at the time of the incident. Police are now searching for the suspect based on this description and the CCTV footage collected from the area.
