Rs 50,000 Stolen From Customer’s Bag Inside PNB Branch in Jehanabad
Jehanabad, Bihar: On Tuesday, Rs 50,000 was stolen from a customer’s bag at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Jehanabad. The victim has been identified as Preman Saw, a resident of Panchmahalla.
He has visited the branch of Punjab National Bank and withdrawn Rs 50,000 from his bank account and kept the cash inside his bag. After that, he went to another counter in the bank for passbook-related work.
During this time, unidentified thieves allegedly took advantage of the crowd and stole the entire amount from his bag.
When he came out of the bank, he noticed that his bag was open and the cash was missing. He searched for the money inside the bank premises but could not find it.
The victim informed the bank management about the incident and submitted a written complaint at Nagar Police Station on Tuesday afternoon.
Nagar Police Station In-charge Umesh Prasad said that the bank’s CCTV footage is being checked and the police are taking further action in the matter.
As per reports, the banks have removed security guards from branches. Such incidents are increasing in banks day by day. The presence of security guard might prevent such incidents. Banks should look into this matter and increase the security in branches.
