A shocking incident has come to light from Chandawani village in Shivpuri district, where the family of a retired police officer turned against him in a brutal manner. The victim, 62-year-old Pratipal Singh Yadav, who retired as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was tied with a rope, dragged on the ground, and assaulted by his wife and two sons.

A disturbing video of the incident has gone viral, raising serious questions about how a man who once served in the women’s cell of Sheopur district was humiliated by his own family members, just a few months after his retirement on March 31.

Sons sit on father’s chest, neighbors plead for release

Eyewitnesses and video footage reveal the horrifying details. On August 20, Pratipal Singh’s wife, Maya Yadav, along with their sons Akash and Abhas, attacked him. In the video, one son is seen sitting on his father’s chest while the other drags his legs. Their mother also joins in, instead of stopping them.

Neighbors can be heard pleading with the family to release the retired officer, but Maya continued to argue with the locals while holding a rope. She even forced Pratipal to walk with her before snatching his ATM card and mobile phone. Eventually, Maya and her sons left the spot, leaving Pratipal on the ground. The villagers later helped him stand up.

After the incident, Pratipal revealed that he has been living separately from his wife and sons for the past 15 years. His wife lives in Jhansi with their sons, while their daughter is studying MBBS in Gorakhpur.

He alleged that Maya and the boys came to Chandawani only to demand his retirement money. When he refused to accompany them to Jhansi, they tried to forcefully take him away. In the process, they brutally assaulted him and took his personal belongings.

Pratipal further explained that he had already received around ₹20 lakh from EPF, while ₹33 lakh from gratuity and other funds are still pending. He had also promised to give ₹5 lakh to his elder son and ₹15 lakh to his younger son, but he also needs to save money for his daughter’s marriage.

Despite the humiliation and violence, Pratipal has chosen not to file an FIR against his wife and children. He said that he does not want to ruin his sons’ future by dragging them into a police case. Instead, he has only submitted an application to the police station in-charge, asking for the return of his mobile phone and ATM card.

This shocking case highlights not just family disputes over money but also the tragic situation where a retired police officer, who spent his career maintaining law and order, is left helpless against his own family.
