The All India PSB Officers Union (AIPSBOU), affiliated with AIBOC and AINBOF, has raised serious concerns over unethical, illegal and coercive practices by the management of Punjab & Sind Bank ahead of the proposed strike.
In a letter dated September 26, 2026, addressed to the Chief General Manager (HRD) of Punjab & Sind Bank, the union said it had received reports and complaints from different parts of the country about alleged attempts to discourage officers from participating in the strike.
The union alleged that senior management officials and regional heads were threatening, intimidating and pressuring officers working in Head Office departments and administrative units to withdraw from the strike.
The AIPSBOU referred to provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, and claimed that threatening or coercing employees against participating in union activities could amount to an unfair labour practice. The union also referred to Sections 25T and 25U of the Act regarding penalties for unfair labour practices.
According to the union, employees working in various Head Office and administrative departments were also allegedly being prevented from recording their participation in the strike on the grounds that these departments were part of sensitive installations or essential operations.
The union further alleged that employees from departments classified as sensitive were being deputed to branches in different parts of India. According to the AIPSBOU, deputing such employees away from the very departments classified as essential or sensitive raises questions about the purpose of the classification. The union also alleged that spending bank funds on Travel Allowance (TA) and Daily Allowance (DA) for such deputations could result in unnecessary expenditure.
The AIPSBOU has demanded that the Punjab & Sind Bank management immediately stop issuing threats or using coercion against officers exercising their union rights. It also demanded an end to the alleged practice of sharing CBS or IT User IDs and passwords, withdrawal of deputation orders that the union believes are intended to disrupt strike participation, and an inquiry against officials found to have misused administrative authority or violated IT security protocols during the strike period.
The union further warned that if any illegal practice, adverse administrative action, victimisation or unauthorised use of digital credentials takes place against officers, it would consider taking immediate legal remedies.
