Punjab & Sind Bank Officers announce 2 Day Strike on 15 and 16 June 2026
The All-India Punjab & Sind Bank Officers’ Federation has served a formal strike notice to the bank’s management. The union has announced a two full-day complete nationwide strike on June 15th and June 16th, 2026.
A delegation from federation visited the head office on May 20, 2026, to resolve pending matters but the union leaders faced highly offensive, unprofessional, and regionalist tirades from the DGM (HRD).
As per the federation, the DGM (HRD) threatened to ruin the careers of union activists and take disciplinary action against them.
The officers filed grievance to Top Management on May 24, 2026 but no action was taken. Finally, the officers have announced strike.
Punjab & Sind Bank branches will remain continuously closed for four consecutive days due to weekend, severely impacting banking operations across the country.

What is the reason of Strike?
According to the Federation’s General Secretary, Ratneshwar Chaudhary, the strike is a direct response to the management’s systemic violation of administrative fairness, labor-management norms, and statutory principles.
The important reasons mentioned for strike are as follows:
1. Serious allegations have been imposed against DGM (HRD), Shri Harjinder Singh. He has been accused of gross misconduct, abuse of power, and anti-union hostility.
2. During a recent meeting, the DGM (HRD) openly threatened to wipe out the Trade Union and its activists. He issued threats to spoil the careers of union office bearers through adverse, retaliatory transfers and disciplinary actions, while severely misbehaving with the Federation’s representatives.
3. The DGM (HRD) concurrently acts as the Disciplinary Authority Cell (DAC) authority for all bank officials up to Scale-III. This concentration of power allows the weaponization of disciplinary proceedings. The union has demanded structural reforms to completely separate the independent portfolios of HRD and DAC.
4. The federation also alleged nepotism and favoritism in transfers. It claimed that some employees who had close connections with the management were allowed to remain in places like Delhi-NCR even after promotion, while others were transferred to distant states such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu from Rajasthan as a form of punishment.
5. The federation also alleged unilateral implementation of a new transfer policy without mandatory consultation with unions, removal of the 200 km home zone criteria, lack of transparency in the scoring system, and a heavily biased promotion process that allegedly sidelines qualified field staff.
6. The federation alleged that the management refused to publicly disclose detailed transfer lists and the evaluation criteria used for promotions. It further claimed that, under the guise of a point-based scoring system, the HRD Department at the Head Office adopted unfair practices that allegedly favored select individuals while ignoring genuine transfer requests from employees.
7. The federation also alleged that union activists were being unfairly targeted through unnecessary show-cause notices and charge sheets, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Punjab. At the same time, it claimed that major loan irregularities and rising Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) linked to favored officials at the Head Office were being ignored or not taken seriously.
