A case of embezzlement by an employee of Punjab National Bank has been reported in Ajmer. The bank’s deputy manager filed a complaint with the Kotwali police station, accusing the employee of stealing Rs 6,45,800. Following this, the police have registered a case and begun an investigation.

Keshav Indoria, the deputy manager at the Mudra Tijori branch of Punjab National Bank on Kachhari Road, submitted the complaint. He explained that a man named Gajendra Singh Rathore, an employee of the bank, was responsible for managing cash and handling the notes at the branch. The employee would regularly come and go to sort and arrange the banknotes for the branch.

However, the deputy manager mentioned that over time, Gajendra Singh Rathore would secretly remove money from the bundles of notes. This continued until December 2024 when the bank staff deposited the notes with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Jaipur. Upon counting the money, it was discovered that a significant amount of money, specifically in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 500 notes, was missing. The total missing amount was Rs 6,45,800.

The manager, Rajiv Jain, was immediately informed about the shortage. After reviewing the CCTV footage, it became clear that Gajendra Singh Rathore was seen taking notes from the bundles. Following this, the bank conducted an internal inquiry, which confirmed that the employee had been involved in the fraud, manipulating the money to embezzle the funds.

Based on the deputy manager’s complaint, the Kotwali police station has filed a case and started investigating the matter.
