Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde instructed Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh to conduct a review meeting on issuing Kunbi caste certificates to eligible Maratha community members. The state government had published an order last Tuesday asking officials to issue fresh Kunbi certificates to pave the way for Marathas to avail reservation benefits under the OBC category.

Accordingly, all district collectors were asked to speed up the process of issuing caste certificates for Maratha Kunbis as OBC certificates.

Deshmukh instructed officers to follow the process of Aurangabad district and form taluka-wise committees to scrutinise the documents.
