Punjab National Bank (PNB) has revised its mobile number validation process for customers. PNB has made the process much more simple than before. Customers can now easily change their mobile numbers.
Under the revised process, when a customer registers or modifies a mobile number, the customer will receive an SMS asking them to approve or cancel the request. The SMS will contain the mobile number, CIF ID and instructions for validation.
To approve the mobile number updation request, the customer has to send MOBY followed by a space and the last four digits of the Customer ID. To cancel the request, the customer has to send MOBN followed by a space and the last four digits of the Customer ID to the number 9264092640.
Customer Gets 3 Days for Verification
PNB has extended the customer self-verification period from the existing same-day window to three days. Customers can now approve or cancel their mobile number registration or modification request within three days from the date on which the validation request is generated.
Customer ID to Be Used Instead of Account Number
A major change is that customers will now have to mention the last four digits of their Customer ID in the SMS response. Earlier, the last four digits of the account number were required.
The revised validation syntax will apply to all mobile number registration and modification requests.
Request Will Be Automatically Cancelled
If the customer does not validate the request within the prescribed three-day period, the mobile number updation request will be cancelled automatically. The system will send an SMS informing the customer that the request could not be processed because validation was not completed within the stipulated time. The customer will then be advised to visit their base branch for mobile number updation.
