PNB pays PLI to Officers upto Scale III
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has paid PLI to Officers upto Scale III on 5 May 2026. The PLI has been paid for FY 2025-2026.
Scale 1 Officers have been paid PLI ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.30,000. Scale 2 Officers have been paid PLI ranging from Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000. Scale 3 Officers have been paid PLI ranging from Rs.40,000 to Rs.50,000.
The PLI for Scale 4 and above officers has not been paid yet.
The PLI is still a contentious issue in banks. AIBOC has filed a case in the Delhi High Court against the new PLI scheme for senior executives of the Bank (Scale 4 and above). After this case filing, the PLI payment for senior executives has been put on hold.
Why is the new PLI scheme controversial?
The new PLI scheme is controversial because, as per this new PLI scheme, Scale 1, Scale 2 and Scale 3 Officers will get normal PLI up to 15 days of basic pay (up to Rs 50,000), but Scale IV and above officers will get almost double their salary.
- Scale IV officers can get 70% of their annual basic pay (approximately ₹11.75 lakh per year).
- Scale V and VI officers can get 80% of their annual basic pay (approximately ₹14.40 lakh per year).
- Scale VII officers can get 90% of their annual basic pay (approximately ₹22.50 lakh per year).
The officers up to scale 3 state that maximum work is done by them, but maximum PLI will be paid to Scale 4 and above officers. This new PLI scheme seems to have created a divide amongst the officer community.
