In an interview with Kadak YouTube Channel, PNB MD & CEO Shri Ashok Chandra revealed that he works 16–18 hours a day. He also made several important disclosures and remarks during the conversation. He shared that although he could not qualify for the PNB PO examination, his hard work eventually led him to the position of Managing Director and CEO of Punjab National Bank.
He said he prefers coffee over tea and work over rest, and that he enjoys working. He added that he has incorporated five important qualities in his life: honesty, sincerity, integrity, magnanimity, and sacrifice.

He graduated in Economics from Patna University. He was preparing for the UPSC exam but also began preparing for other job opportunities to secure employment earlier. He prepared for the Bank PO exam but unfortunately did not get selected in Punjab National Bank. In his second attempt, he was selected by Corporation Bank in 1991.
He said that from now onwards, branches must obtain 50 customer feedbacks every month, and this requirement has been linked to the performance appraisal of employees. Employees will receive 5 marks for positive feedback. This system has also been linked to APAR and will play a role in determining employee incentives, promotions, and postings.
