Punjab National Bank (PNB) has issued an important reminder for customers who use MasterCard services for international transactions. The bank said that all MasterCard network activities related to Russia remain suspended due to international sanctions and restrictions imposed by the global card network.
According to information available on PNB’s website, MasterCard services involving sanctioned customers and Russian entities are still prohibited. These restrictions apply regardless of the customer’s location.
PNB stated that all network activities for Russia remain suspended. The bank also said that all MasterCard services, including financial transactions, continue to be prohibited for sanctioned customers wherever they are located.
The bank further added that blocks remain in place across MasterCard’s authorization, clearing, and other core systems for all sanctioned customers worldwide, as well as all customers in Russia.
Russia Looking to Remove Mastercard and Visa
According to international media reports, Russia is working towards completely removing Mastercard and Visa from its domestic market.
As a result, financial transactions through the MasterCard network involving sanctioned customers are not allowed. Clearing and settlement activities involving affected customers are also restricted. These restrictions apply to sanctioned customers worldwide and to customers located in Russia.
Airport Lounge Access Discontinued for Some Debit Card Holders
In a separate notification, PNB informed customers that the complimentary airport lounge access facility available on MasterCard Platinum Debit Cards has been discontinued from June 1, 2026.
The bank has advised customers to take note of this change and make alternative arrangements if required.
