PNB issues Strict Social Media Guidelines, Employees should be careful while creating Reels
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has issued an advisory to all offices and staff members regarding the responsible use of social media. The advisory focuses on protecting the bank’s reputation, brand image and security.
Do Not Use Bank Branding Without Permission
The bank has observed that some employees are creating and sharing reels, videos, photographs and other social media content while showing the bank’s logo, name, signage, branding, branch premises or official identity cards.
PNB has advised employees that the bank’s name, logo, branding, signage and other proprietary identifiers must not be used in personal social media content without permission from the competent authority.
Employees Should Not Show Branch Areas
The advisory also says that employees should not photograph, record or display branch premises and operational areas on social media.
This includes branch interiors, customer service areas, counters, cash cabins, record rooms, operational workspaces, systems, equipment and other official infrastructure. The bank said showing such areas publicly could affect the security and operational integrity of the branch.
Do Not Display Official Identity Cards
Employees have also been advised not to display official identity cards, uniforms or other identifiers that connect them with PNB while creating or sharing personal social media content.
Avoid Content That Ridicules Customers or Colleagues
PNB has asked employees to avoid posting, sharing or participating in social media content that ridicules, mocks, insults or otherwise portrays customers, colleagues, other institutions or the bank in an adverse manner.
The bank said such content may not be consistent with the expected standards of compliance, professionalism, dignity and customer respect and could affect its reputation and public image.
Customer and Confidential Information Must Be Protected
The advisory strictly warns employees against capturing, recording, disclosing or sharing customer information and confidential or sensitive bank-related information on social media.
This includes official documents, computer screens, transaction-related details and security-related information. Such information must not be shared through any social media platform.
Personal Posts Should Not Represent PNB’s Official Position
The bank has also clarified that employees’ personal social media activities must not create an impression that their posts represent the views, policies or official position of Punjab National Bank.
Strict Compliance Advised
PNB has directed all offices to make staff members aware of the advisory and ensure strict compliance with the instructions.
The bank has warned that violations, including unauthorised use of its branding, identity, premises or operational areas on social media, or any activity that harms the bank’s reputation, security or business interests, may be taken seriously.
Such violations may lead to appropriate disciplinary action under the bank’s existing rules and regulations.
