Punjab National Bank MD&CEO Shri Ashok Chandra is on a mission to improve the HR policies of Bank. He has a vision for the Bank – Grow, Innovate, Excel. He wants to transform PNB into a performance driven, transparent, and future ready organization. He is focussing especially on Employees and HR initiatives.

Recently, he issued a new Blue Circular and mentioned about the importance of a Balanced Performance Management System (PMS) and various ways of achieving it through Project UDAAN. UDAAN is a portal used by PNB for assessing the performance of Employees.

He said that field and administrative roles should be treated equitably and performance should be assessed solely on merit – without influence or bias. For this, various new parameters will be added in assessment model. He said that now senior leaders such as GMs and CGMs have been made accountable for Circle Level Outcomes.

He said that the management wants to treat field and administrative units equally and various methods will be adopted to achieve this.

The blue circular also mentioned that employees should be provided balanced exposure to both field and administrative roles. Working across both field and administrative roles helps in developing a deeper and comprehensive understanding of how the Bank works at all levels.

To achieve this, a structured rotation between Head Office and Field Level has been introduced taking into consideration the past performance and the requirements of the Bank. This initiative will provide practical experience and strategic oversight, enhancing the decision making capabilities of teams.

When Head Office staff will work in field, then he/she will get hands-on exposure to ground level challenges, customer engagement, and operational realities. Similarly, when staff working in field will work in Head Office, then he/she will get strategic insight into policy making, planning, and high level decision making processes.

At the end, PNB MD&CEO urged each and every employee to actively contribute to the Bank’s continued growth and success and put in best efforts to generate strong business leads.
