PNB Employee arrested by Police in Haridwar
Haridwar, Uttarakhand: Haridwar police have arrested a bank employee in case of embezzlement of crores of rupees from the Kharkhari branch of Punjab National Bank.
Gaurav Kumar, a bank employee who had been on the run for a long time, was finally arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A reward of five thousand rupees was announced on the accused, and he had been constantly changing locations to evade police arrest.

What is the fraud case about?
A bank customer – Hariom, had filed a complaint at Kotwali Nagar on March 23, 2025.
The complaint alleged that Gaurav Kumar, an employee at the Kharkhari branch of the Punjab National Bank, withdrew approximately ₹27.36 million from his bank account.
When the complainant gathered information about the account transactions, he discovered significant financial irregularities.
He filed a complaint with the police regarding the embezzlement of funds from his account.
The police started investigation but the accused was constantly changing his locations to avoid arrest.
Several police teams were engaged in his search. Mobile surveillance, informants, and technical evidence were used to trace the accused’s location.
After eluding the police for a considerable time, the accused’s location was finally located in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
Following this, the Haridwar police took action and arrested the accused by raiding Nanakpur Janta Road, Janakpuri police station area, Saharanpur.
The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the entire matter. It is suspected that the accused may not be alone in embezzling crores of rupees; a larger network may be involved. Investigating agencies are also trying to determine where the withdrawn funds were spent and through which accounts or channels the transactions were conducted.
This case has raised a lot of questions on the security system of banks.
