A shocking case has come to light in Punjab National Bank in New Delhi. As per reports, a branch manager has been suspended for raising voice against leave denial by the higher authority. This news has gone viral on social media and bankers across social media are criticizing bank management for this action.
The branch manager has submitted one day leave which was declined by the higher authority. The branch manager put this on his WhatsApp status – he wrote “Single Day Casual Leave is denied by Competent Authority. Why this kolaveri di?”
But to his surprise, he soon received an explanation letter from the bank management. The bank management said that the branch manager has violated the social media policy of the bank. The letter said that the employees of Bank should not criticize the bank management and also should not be a part of any group of social media that criticized the bank management. The branch manager was asked to submit his explanation within 5 days.
The branch manager replied that he had not violated the social media policy of the bank as the content was not defamatory and offensive in nature and it did not provide any confidential information also. It was just a personal expression of concern regarding matters that affect staff welfare and organizational transparency. He said the right to peaceful expression and constructive criticism is fundamental right of every citizen of India.
