A shocking case has come to light in Punjab National Bank in New Delhi. As per reports, a branch manager has been suspended for raising voice against leave denial by the higher authority. This news has gone viral on social media and bankers across social media are criticizing bank management for this action.

The branch manager has submitted one day leave which was declined by the higher authority. The branch manager put this on his WhatsApp status – he wrote “Single Day Casual Leave is denied by Competent Authority. Why this kolaveri di?”

But to his surprise, he soon received an explanation letter from the bank management. The bank management said that the branch manager has violated the social media policy of the bank. The letter said that the employees of Bank should not criticize the bank management and also should not be a part of any group of social media that criticized the bank management. The branch manager was asked to submit his explanation within 5 days.


The branch manager replied that he had not violated the social media policy of the bank as the content was not defamatory and offensive in nature and it did not provide any confidential information also. It was just a personal expression of concern regarding matters that affect staff welfare and organizational transparency. He said the right to peaceful expression and constructive criticism is fundamental right of every citizen of India.

He should drag it to court and make them sorry in front of court since status of an employee after working hours didn’t fall into the guidelines of bank policy. No policy can control a person’s freedom of expression. This is violation of constitutional rights.
This is uncalled for. The senior authority should be suspended for issuing this childish suspension order
HIGHER AUTHORITIES ARE BEHAVIOR IS LIKE A SUPER BOSS MANAGER CAN’T BE SANCTIONED CASUAL LEAVE .I THINK THAT MANAGERS R BONDED LABOUR’S OF MANGMENNT. THEY MUST KEEP SOFT HEART. THEY SHOULD NOT KEEP DANDA ALWAYS TO DE MORILISE THE 2 ND LINE OF MANAGEMENT.
There was no necessity to take such a drastic action against the manager. Management should have cautioned him. Even top Management officials also go on leave.
As per freedom of expression, we have a right to vent and express our feelings. There is a high court order from Madurai bench of Madras high court, related to a similar case wherein court has quashed the punishment issued by bank.
