About Patel Retail IPO
Patel Retail Limited, founded in 2008, is a supermarket chain mainly operating in tier-III cities and nearby suburban areas. Its stores offer a wide variety of products, including food items, FMCG products, general merchandise, and clothing. The first store, branded as “Patel’s R Mart,” opened in Ambernath, Maharashtra. As of May 31, 2025, the company runs 43 stores across suburban areas of Thane and Raigad districts in Maharashtra, covering a total retail area of about 1,78,946 sq. ft. To boost profit margins and brand awareness, the company has introduced private label products such as “Patel Fresh” for pulses and ready-to-cook items, “Indian Chaska” for spices, ghee, and papad, “Blue Nation” for men’s wear, and “Patel Essentials” for home improvement products.
The company operates three main manufacturing facilities to support its retail and private label business. The first facility, in Ambernath, Maharashtra, handles processing, quality checks, and packaging of products like pulses, ready mixes, and grocery items. The second facility, in Dudhai, Kutch, Gujarat, focuses on processing agricultural products such as peanuts, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds, helping in backward integration. The third, located in the Agri-Processing Cluster at Dudhai, spans 15.925 acres and includes five production units, a fruit pulp processing unit, a dry warehouse with 3,040 MT capacity, cold storage with 3,000 MT capacity, and an in-house testing and research lab. Together, Facilities 2 and 3 are referred to as the Kutch Facilities.
Patel Retail positions its stores as neighborhood supermarkets catering to both daily needs and bulk purchases. Apart from retail sales, the company also earns rental income from vendor arrangements within its stores. As of May 31, 2025, it offered 38 product categories across 10,000 SKUs, with most sales coming from Maharashtra and Gujarat. Its strengths include deep knowledge of product assortment and inventory management using IT systems, steady store expansion through a unique acquisition and ownership strategy, its own logistics fleet of 18 trucks, a diverse product range, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.
