Overseas Direct Investment Data for August 2026
The Reserve Bank of India has today released the data on Overseas Direct Investment, both under Automatic Route and the Approval Route, for the month of August 2026.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released provisional data on Outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) for August 2026.
According to the data, the total financial commitment by Indian companies under OFDI stood at USD 3,840.02 million (USD 3.84 billion) in August 2026. The total includes equity investment, loans and guarantees issued by Indian companies for their overseas investments.
The data shows that equity commitments stood at USD 1,140.52 million in August 2026, compared with USD 2,056.54 million in July 2026 and USD 1,063.31 million in August 2025.
Loan commitments stood at USD 464.24 million, compared with USD 878.93 million in July 2026 and USD 845.31 million in August 2025. Meanwhile, guarantees issued amounted to USD 2,235.27 million in August 2026, compared with USD 2,840.48 million in July 2026 and USD 1,206.18 million in August 2025.
The total OFDI financial commitment of USD 3.84 billion in August 2026 was lower than the USD 5.78 billion recorded in July 2026, but higher than the USD 3.11 billion recorded in August 2025. Compared with August 2025, the total financial commitment increased by around 23.5%.
The RBI has clarified that the data is provisional and may change based on online reporting by Authorised Dealer (AD) banks. The individual components may also not exactly add up to the total due to rounding off. The latest figures are based on reporting by AD banks on the OIF portal as of September 7, 2026.
