The incident was discovered when local shopkeepers and residents noticed smoke coming from the bank building. Initially, they thought it was caused by a short circuit. However, on closer inspection, they found that the windows at the rear of the building had been smashed, and the protective grills were cut, confirming that a robbery had taken place.
Emergency services were immediately alerted. Firefighters arrived and worked for nearly two hours to extinguish the flames. Simultaneously, police teams from Simulia and Soro reached the spot and started their investigation into the incident.
“We saw flames and smoke coming from the bank and realized something was wrong. Later, we found out that gold and cash had been stolen from the lockers,” said Ghanshayam Nayak, a local resident.
The fire caused significant damage, and thick smoke enveloped the entire bank branch. Although the exact amount of cash and valuables stolen is still being assessed, initial reports suggest that the fire began from the area housing the bank lockers.
The police are thoroughly investigating the case to uncover details about the robbers and the total loss. As of now, no additional comments have been made by the authorities.
