No Protest at Jantar Mantar! Jantar Mantar denotified as Protest Venue

The Delhi Police has officially denotified Jantar Mantar as a designated venue for protests and demonstrations.

This decision follows the recommendations of a committee set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to establish alternative proper venues for public demonstrations.

New Designated Protest Sites in Delhi

With Jantar Mantar stripped of its status as a legal protest site, authorities have designated three alternative locations:

1. Ramlila Ground (Central Delhi)
2. Burari Ground (North Delhi)
3. CBD Ground(East Delhi)

The Delhi Police issued a standing order noting that a revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for organizing demonstrations at these newly designated sites will be released separately.The move has drawn immediate criticism and backlash from various political figures, activists, and citizen groups who view it as an infringement on the right to peaceful assembly.
