A widely-shared video of MS Dhoni casually enjoying a hookah at a social gathering has grabbed people’s attention and sparked discussions.

Dhoni, who spent the New Year in Dubai with Rishabh Pant and Bollywood star Kriti Sanon, was caught on camera using a hookah. Despite his reputation for staying fit after retirement and during IPL matches, the video surprised many and led to considerable chatter on social media.

After the video of Dhoni smoking hookah went viral, an old comment from former CSK teammate George Bailey has resurfaced. Bailey revealed Dhoni’s occasional preference for smoking hookah and how he used it to create a more relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, especially with younger players.
Bailey mentioned, “He likes smoking a bit of sheesha or hookah. So, he would often set that up in his room, and it was very much an open-door policy. You would go in and often find many younger players there. In cricket teams, including India, there can be a hierarchical atmosphere, but he certainly broke down those barriers.”
He added, “You might find yourself in his room late at night, having casual chats about the game or various aspects of it, or even about different people. It’s a great way to break down barriers with different individuals.”
