The Micro Observer (MO) is a specialized role created by the ECI (Election Commission of India). MOs are responsible for reporting any irregularities in the polling process to the General Observer of the constituency. They are appointed in sensitive polling areas identified through vulnerability mapping. Their duties are limited to the days of polling, and they need to observe the entire election process at their assigned polling booth(s).
In short, Micro observers have to observe the full election process and check whether the election has been conducted as per ECI guidelines or not. If there is any discrepancy in election, then Micro observers have to report it immediately to his/her senior officers.
We are providing complete PDF on duties of Micro Observers. We have also provided the format that Micro Observers need to fill and submit.
