Rashmi Kumari, a resident of Booti Mor in Ranchi, will soon be seen answering questions from the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Her special appearance will be aired over two days, Wednesday and Thursday. Rashmi’s journey to the hot seat has been a long one, taking her 24 years of continuous effort to finally get the chance.
Rashmi, originally from Giridih, has been living in Ranchi for the past decade. She works as a Senior Manager at Punjab National Bank’s regional office in Kantatoli. Prior to this, she has worked in various locations, including Kolkata, Punjab, and Jamshedpur. Her husband, Birendra Kumar, is also a bank employee, and together they have two children—a daughter, Vallavi Shiva, and a son, Batsal Shekhar. Watch videos below 👇
One special aspect of Rashmi’s life is that she is the mother of a teenage daughter with special needs. Despite her busy personal and professional life, Rashmi never gave up on her dream of sitting on the hot seat of KBC. This year, her hard work and determination paid off after clearing the audition round. On the show, she managed to answer up to the 10th question, securing a prize of Rs. 3.20 lakh.
Sharing her experience, Rashmi said, “I had never met any celebrity before, and it was my dream to meet Amitabh Bachchan. When I saw him in person, I felt extremely nervous. Sitting at home, everything looks simple, but facing the lights, cameras, and answering questions under pressure is very challenging.”
She spoke warmly about Amitabh Bachchan, describing him as a humble and down-to-earth person. Rashmi shared a memorable moment from the show, saying, “During the episode, my glasses became foggy, and Mr. Bachchan himself took out a cloth and cleaned them for me. He even gave me the cloth as a keepsake. He also signed an autograph in my diary, which I’ve treasured and brought back to Ranchi.”
Rashmi said she has been a dedicated fan of KBC, watching every episode closely and hoping that one day she would get her chance on the hot seat. “I believe that those who try, never fail. This time, my efforts were successful,” she said, adding that she got stuck on the 11th question. “In this game, it’s important not to overthink or try to be over-smart,” she advised.
Rashmi’s story is one of perseverance, proving that dedication and hard work can turn dreams into reality.
