Deepa was born in Mangalore and raised in Mumbai as the youngest of five children. Growing up, Deepa lived a happy life filled with love, laughter, and dreams for the future.

Deepa Pai Hangyo ice cream Marriage

In 1995, Deepa married Pradeep Pai and moved to Kirwatti, a small village near Hubli. The shift was dramatic—from the fast-paced life of Mumbai to a quiet village with inconsistent electricity and minimal modern entertainment. Adjusting to the slower lifestyle wasn’t easy, but Deepa embraced her new roles as a wife, daughter-in-law, and homemaker with grace.

The start of Hangyo Ice Cream

In 1997, a small idea took shape—Softee, a soft-serve ice cream priced at just ₹5. To their surprise, it became an instant hit. The overwhelming public response encouraged the couple to think bigger. In 2003, they expanded into the world of regular ice creams, officially giving birth to the Hangyo brand.

The path wasn’t easy. Competing in an industry ruled by big brands was a huge challenge. But with belief and hard work, Hangyo slowly built a loyal customer base and a strong reputation. Today, it has grown into a ₹300 crore company, loved across India.

At first, Deepa played a supportive role behind the scenes. But by 2007, once her son Sankeern grew older, she became more involved in the business. She stepped into areas like branding, packaging, product development, and marketing. From designing labels to creating new flavours, her touch began shaping Hangyo’s identity.

Working in a male-dominated industry brought its own challenges. But Deepa faced every obstacle with strength and a calm determination. Her creativity and vision played a key role in the brand’s growth.
