Sonipat: A shocking incident unfolded at the Central Bank of India branch in Model Town, Sonipat, when a dispute over cash withdrawal escalated into violence, leaving a security guard severely injured. The accused, frustrated over not being able to withdraw money, attacked the guard, causing serious injury to his eye.
According to police reports, the incident took place on February 27 when Mehtab, a security guard from Mayur Vihar, was on duty at the bank. During banking hours, a man named Ravi arrived at the branch with his mother, Santosh, intending to withdraw ₹5 lakh. However, due to insufficient cash availability, the bank officials informed him that they could not process the full amount.
Dissatisfied with the response, Ravi engaged in a heated argument with the bank staff, demanding his money. As the situation escalated, security guard Mehtab intervened and attempted to pacify the agitated customer. However, instead of calming down, Ravi turned violent and attacked the guard, striking him in the eye. The injury was severe, and Mehtab had to be rushed to a hospital in Delhi, where he underwent surgery.
Following the incident, the Civil Lines police station registered a case based on Mehtab’s complaint. Authorities are investigating the matter, and legal action is expected against the accused. The bank officials have also expressed concern over the growing instances of customer aggression and have urged for stricter security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
