Less Customers but More Complaints: Maximum complaints filed with RBI against Private Banks

According to RBI data, most complaints were filed against private sector banks. Even though public sector banks serve a much larger customer base, their complaint volume is lower. For instance, SBI alone has over 50 crore customers, while all private banks combined have fewer customers, yet private banks still account for more complaints. As per RBI, a total of 2,96,321 complaints were received with RBI Ombudsman from 1st April 2024 till 31st March 2025. Out of it 1,11,199 complaints were against private sector banks.
