The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has suspended two senior officials with immediate effect, pending an internal investigation into alleged irregularities during their tenure in Baramulla district. More details of irregularities will be released soon.
As per official orders, Sheikh Mohammad Muzaffar, Assistant General Manager and former Cluster Head of Baramulla, and Tanveer Bashir, Chief Manager and former Branch Manager of T P Baramulla, have been suspended from active duty.
Both officers have been attached to different locations for the duration of the investigation. Muzaffar has been shifted to the Zonal Office in Srinagar, while Bashir has been attached to the Cluster Office in Kupwara.
The bank’s suspension order also imposes strict restrictions: the two officials are not permitted to enter any other bank premises or leave their assigned station without prior approval from the competent authority. Additionally, their specimen signatures have been put on hold, effectively suspending any financial authority they may have held.
During the suspension period, both employees will receive subsistence allowance in accordance with bank rules.
An internal inquiry is currently underway to probe the alleged “acts of omission and commission” during their postings. The bank has yet to issue any further comment on the nature or details of the allegations.
