The CBDT has extended the due date for filing of ITRs for AY 2025-26 from 15th September 2025 to 16th September 2025.
The Income Tax Department has extended the due date or deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for AY 2025-26 by a day. The original deadline of July 31, 2025 had previously been extended to September 15, 2025. This has now been extended again to September 16, 2025.
Why Income Tax Last Date has been Extended?
The due date for filing ITR has been extended after many taxpayers reported facing glitches on the income tax e-filing portal, incometax.gov.in.
How many ITRs have been filed till now?
Over 7 crore ITRs have been filed till September 15, and the number is expected to rise further as the deadline has now been extended.
